What’s in a story, though? Why does it help your yoga content? How does a brand story create that trusting feeling that your students need?
A Brand Story Weaved into Content Creates Trust
This isn’t a marketing gimmick. I’m talking about sharing yourself authentically in a way that actually connects with your students. Boring stories won’t do the trick and no one wants to hear about the drama that you should be speaking to your bestie about. Your story is inspired by a key event in your life and the lesson you learned from it. Perhaps it was your parent’s messy divorce that taught you the power of meditation or a struggle with an eating disorder that led you to live a balanced and healthy life. It is rediscovering parts of you and your journey that brought you to where you are today.

Your ideal students may not connect with your exact story but they may connect with the feelings you had. Did you ever feel anxious, scared, or in despair? Could they share those same feelings right now? When you think like that, you start to tap into a whole different kind of connection because you’re shifting focus from you, onto them.
Stories Give Your Brand Personality
People trust other people. The core reason why your story needs a real personality and beating heart behind it is so it can provide someone authentic for your ideal student to trust. Think of your own behavior and how likely you are to put your feet up and watch the latest Disney flick? Or save up to buy a matching Lululemon set or an iPhone? It’s because you have bought in. You want to be part of the story. At some point, their brand story connected with you on an emotional level built your trust and now you’re a happy customer.
Why’s This Relevant To Your Yoga Content?
You need to remember that every person needs connection. We are all craving it in-person and online. This connection that you’re creating is what will help your ideal student book your yoga class, opt into your email list, watch your YouTube video or listen to your Podcast. It means more than just sharing for the sake of sharing. Your story should focus on 3 easy steps.

Simple stories are better. When you stick to the key points you have a better chance of your reader finishing what you set out to say. When you create your brand story for your yoga content, be mindful that the end should be the beginning of a new adventure and a lesson learned. If you try to cram more into the story, you’ll lose momentum.
Where Do I Share My Brand Stories?
Instagram, Instagram, Instagram! Tell your story in such a way that it tells your audience “I relate to you, I understand you, I am like you.” Include it on posts, your Stories, and go Live. Just by showing up and mastering your story to 60 seconds long can create a huge impact as you pull back the velvet rope and let your personality shine center stage. Few things can communicate that level of engagement like a story can. When your story connects with your ideal student, you build trust. The more they hear it, see it and read, the better chance you have in converting them to a paying student.
Remember, Your Students Buy A Part Of Your Story, Not Just A Yoga Class
When a student buys your class or becomes a member, they must feel as if they are buying part of your brand story. They are buying that feeling that your story evokes within. They are buying into the outcome on the other side. They are buying into YOU.
